Squeezed!

Lewis_and_clark-expeditionSqueezed by the four-day school, week we’re inundated with a backlog of activities in Room 15.  Students are continuing their Book Clubs and have a reading and writing assignment each evening, which appears in their Vocabulary Journals. Parents are asked to sign-off on this page each night, indicating they’re aware of their child’s completion of the task. This week students will also start rehearsing their plays (Box Brown, Pinkerton, and Jubilee), with performance dates planned for mid-February. The Checkbook Project remains the driving force in Room 15. Nearly all the students seem highly-motivated by this system of rewarding quality work and attendance. Be sure to ask students to bring home and share a copy of their “Friday Tax Report.” On top of all this, students will have their first DARE (drug resistance training) session, begin a major writing task (In My Shoes), learn about the explorers Lewis & Clark, work on their webpages, begin round two of State Testing, study Spanish with our wonderful high school intern, Tanishia, and much more, making for an exceptionally busy week in Room 15.  In one final note, students have two permission slips to return this week, both associated with our Josephine County Tree Plant on February 5th.  Click on “Reforestation Trip” on the sidebar for information from last year’s event.
