New Room 15 Homework Policy

We have so much to do, it seems like we fell a week behind after the first day back in class! Room 15 kids are jumping headlong into their new Book Clubs, including nightly reading assignments and log entries. They’re also practicing their current set of plays, starting DARE with the Central Point Police, and much more. The Checkbook Project, however, has totally engrossed them.

We’re changing how we handle homework in our regular classroom (not our math class). Students are now recording their homework information in a designated notebook and completing homework tasks using their reading material and text books. We will no longer be sending home the blue homework sheets. We ask that parents sign the notebook page each evening rather than the blue sheet. This change is taking place for three reasons:
1. As many of you know, the school is desperately short on funds. Thirty-five homework sheets printed three times a week for 38 weeks is nearly 4000 sheets of paper representing 8000 prints, each costing the school a fee.

2. Secondly, we have an exceptionally responsible class, a group very capable of completing homework tasks without a printed sheet to guide them.

3. Finally, much of what these students will be expected to do in middle school will not be pre-printed, so it’s a good time to make the transition.

Announcements and other information will continue to appear here on the website, and we’ll notify parents about items of greater significance with notices specific to the event.
