2011 Tree Plant

This is such a great field trip. Students arrived at 9:30, boarded trailers pulled by meticulously cared-for but ancient farm tractors, rode up the hills to a staging area, and then hiked to the planting site. The class went through an orientation process to learn the correct way to plant, and each student planted approximately five conifer seedlings. If there were roughly 150 total participants from CPE, about how many trees did CPE plant this year? The first student to provide me the answer will earn checkbook dollars! Check back soon for a gallery of photos (other than the one of Gigantor Mack, above) and a short video about our tree planting experience. And watch, too, for the news team’s take on the event.

This week’s significant events include Friday’s Adopt-a-Street walking field trip up and down Hopkins Street. We’re still in need of a couple more chaperons for this events, so if you have the time, consider joining us. Students should also be practicing their new play parts in Box Brown, Harriet Tubman, or Freedom for the First Time. They’ll be performing during the first week of March. And here’s the spelling list for this period (the test will be sometime next week).
