This Week in Room 15

Room 15 students learned this past week that the Americas were named for Amerigo Vespucci, an Italian explorer who, unlike Columbus, shared his maps of the new world with all of Europe. The kids were thankful, however, the early map-makers used Amerigo’s first name instead of his last.  Ask a Room 15 kids why it was better to be called an American rather than a Vespuccian.  This week we’ll continue learning about explorers and the “discovery” of America. We’ll also be writing perfect paragraphs, holding student council elections, preparing for our upcoming play performances (stay tuned for dates and times), and much more. As always, students have homework every Monday-Thursday. The details are written on the back of their math sheet, which appears below.
