The Extraordinary OMSI Excursion

We’ll be boarding our big yellow vessel on Thursday morning at 8 am for our Extraordinary OMSI Excursion. Our itinerary includes stops at the Oregon State Capitol, the Hoyt Arboretum, and, of course, the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry. Students took home OMSI Guides a week ago, but if you have any questions, feel free to contact me at 664-3947 in the evenings or at mack.lewis@district6.org anytime.

A short list of student must-haves include a sack lunch (for Thursday), $5 (for lunch on Friday), a sleeping bag and pillow, a fresh shirt and socks for Friday, a jacket or sweatshirt (in case it is cold on Thursday), and personables (toothbrush, paste, deodorant). Students are welcome to bring a music player and cell phone, but such items may only be used on the bus (they must be off and out of sight while at OMSI). Students may also bring a camera. There are no electric outlets available to students, so anything that requires electricity is out.

Of course, there’s still three days of class between now and then, so students will have to stay focused long enough to finish their Book Clubs by Wednesday morning, update their webpages on Tuesday (we’ll be posting DARE essays), studying Wild West History (we didn’t get to it last week), and reviewing our fractions concepts. Speaking of fractions, here’s our homework for the week: Monday, April 25th; Tuesday, April 26th; Wednesday, April 27th.
