Congratulations to Room 15 Student of the Month recipients: Kendra R. and Dylan S. for September, and Kalli B., and Logan B. for October. Kudos also to Samantha P., our top earner for the Jog-a-Thon fundraiser. Samantha brought in $377, followed by Morgan with $266. Our class exceeded their goals both for the number of laps (the kids ran 521), and the amount of funds raised for the PTO ($1322.75, the third highest class). Great job, kids! The deal was that the kids could have a class party of they met all their goals, so this Friday, Nov. 8th, we’ll have a pajama/electronic/snack party. If you’re willing to send in some chips, dip, or other snacks, it’d be much appreciated.

Our main focus this week is on presenting our class plays. These are simple, fifteen minutes plays, but we encourage family members to come watch (though they’re probably not worth losing wages at work). On Tuesday at 12:45 we’ll present Lewis & Clark and Bird Girl (starring Samantha P. as Sacagawea and Ryan D. as Charbonneau), and at 1:05 (or so), Fly Me to the Moon (starring Kyrah C. as Young Tess and Olivia K.. as Adult Tess). On Wednesday at 12:45 we’ll offer up Ponce de Leon and the Fountain of Youth (starring Alex C. as Ponce de Leon). Plays are staged in the music room.  We’ll also be starting new Book Clubs on Tuesday, and the kids have a math chapter test on Friday. Here’s the math homework for this week: Monday, Nov. 4th; Tuesday, Nov. 5th; Wednesday,Nov. 6th; Thursday, Nov. 7th.

Finally, Parent-Teacher Conferences are right around the corner. In an attempt to accommodate working families, I typically offer afternoon and evening conferences, but if you need a morning, let me know and I’ll see what I can do.
