I’m excited to meet my new batch of Room 15 Rotters on Tuesday, September 6th! We have great things planned for 5th grade, and our school district is making a bold move toward “purpose-driven” instruction that I think will be highly stimulating for our students.
Please come to school on Tuesday with school supplies ready to go. There’s no need to label them. Much of it will be used as “community supplies.” Fifth graders should be using the same calculator they used in 4th grade (and again throughout middle school), so I hope folks haven’t invested in new ones.
We have a ton of field trips and special events planned. We’re always in need of committed, mature, kid-friendly chaperones. Here are a few important dates to kick off the year:
September 15th: Back-to-School Night
September 29th: Lava Beds field trip (note change of date!)
October 5th: Crater Lake field trip
October 14th: Statewide Teacher In-service Day (no school)
Oct. 26-28: Goal-setting Conferences (no school)
Oct. 31: The Sams Valley Mini-Marathon (we shall be victorious!)
The 5th Grade Coast Trip is always a HUGE highlight of the year and requires lots of parent participation. It’s been scheduled for June 8th and 9th, 2017.
